Macon Mediation Attorney

Warner Robins Arbitration Lawyer

Often times, when a dispute arises there can be several different ways to reach a settlement or agreement. One route to take in reaching an agreement is mediation or arbitration. At my firm, I work with clients throughout Macon, Georgia, and the surrounding areas in a variety of legal areas, including family law, criminal defense, business law, and estate and probate law.

I am attorney Lori Obenauf, and I have been licensed to practice law for 25 years. Additionally, I am registered as a mediator and arbitrator with the Office of Dispute Resolution for the state of Georgia.

What Is Mediation and How Can My Case Benefit From It?

Mediation is a private process where a neutral third person (known as a mediator) assists the parties in discussions to reach a dispute resolution. This process is completely voluntary and the parties are not required to come to an agreement if mediation is chosen. Many times, however, an agreement is met.

The ultimate goal in mediation is to achieve a win-win situation for both parties; eliminating the time, money and stress of taking matters to trial. Some of the many benefits to mediation include:

  • The outcome of your case is determined by you: not left in the hands of a judge or jury
  • Minimal costs: On the flip side, litigation can be very costly and can include a significant attorney's fees.
  • Courts honor your agreement in mediation
  • You can reach a flexible agreement on your own: Mediation allows flexibility that will not likely be available in litigation.
  • You can discuss your matters in a safe, open and confidential environment

Having represented clients in mediation, in addition to my experience as a neutral mediator, I have gained valuable insight into the necessary negotiation skills needed to achieve outcomes that are in my clients' best interests. I understand what factors need to be evaluated, and I have extensive experience in many different subject matters, including business law, family law, estate and probate law.
